The club’s delegation was led by Sporting Director Mr. Shogo Shodunke, alongside Head Coach Oladunni Oyekale (MON) and Toyosi Afolayan, the Brand and Communications Director. The team was warmly received on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Professor Muyiwa Falaiye, and Deputy Registrar, Mr. Akinwumi Abolade. Centred on our upcoming EDU-SPORT framework, discussions focused on student-athlete pathways, academic collaborations in coaching education, and community engagement.
To anchor this relationship, Eko United proposed a flagship inter-faculty football tournament designed to identify student talent and establish a lasting sporting tradition. Discussions also covered the potential use of UNILAG’s sports facilities for squad training. Highlighting UNILAG's vibrant community and strong athletic history, Mr. Shodunke emphasized the club’s ambition to build a football identity deeply rooted in Lagos' student population. In response, Professor Falaiye commended the club's vision and assured the delegation that the proposals would be presented to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, OON, FAS, for formal consideration.
The visit concluded with the presentation of an official Eko United FC home jersey to the University management as a token of mutual respect.
