Eko United FC · 4 September 2026
We are delighted to announce that Oladunni Oyekale has been appointed as our new Head Coach ahead of our debut campaign in the 2026/27 Nigeria National League (NNL).
Oyekale brings a wealth of top-level experience to Eko United, built on a distinguished playing career and a proven track record in management across Nigerian football.

A former international midfielder, Oyekale proudly represented Nigeria at the highest level, playing a starring role in the iconic Flying Eagles squad at the 1989 FIFA U-20 World Cup alongside legends Mutiu Adepoju and Nduka Ugbade.
Following his playing days, Oyekale seamlessly transitioned into management, earning a reputation as one of the most tactically astute minds in the domestic game.

His extensive coaching resume includes serving as Assistant Coach for the Nigeria U-20 national team, alongside technical roles at Crown FC, Ottasolo FC, and Gombe United.
Crucially, Oyekale arrives with a promotion-winning pedigree, having previously guided two separate clubs out of the second tier and into the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Speaking on the appointment, Head Coach Oladunni Oyekale said:
"It is a tremendous honor to be named Head Coach of Eko United.
“This is an exciting club with a clear vision, big ambitions, and a great project ahead. We have a lot of work to do as we prepare for our first season in the NNL, but I am fully committed to building a competitive, resilient team that our fans and the city of Lagos can be proud of."
Oyekale’s immediate focus will be taking charge of pre-season preparations, structuring the first-team squad, and building a technical foundation capable of competing at the highest level of the NNL.
Everyone at Eko United extends a very warm welcome to Coach Oyekale and his staff.
